Dubbed the Venice of the North, Wroclaw is a city of bridges and beautiful greenery. The city is the historic, administrative and business capital of Lower Silesia as well as a lively cultural hotspot. Wroclaw dates back to the 6th century which saw the birth of the first Slavonic settlements. In the year 1000, the bishopric was established and in the 13th century, Wroclaw was granted full rights as a city.
Not to be missed are sites such as the charming Old Town and its countless pubs and cafés, narrow streets, renovated tenement homes, the Town Hall and the impress Market Square. All shining examples of Gothic and Renaissance architecture! Also worth a visit are the University with the Baroque Leopoldinum Hall and Marianum Oratory, Tum Island, the Panorama of Raclawice - a huge painting of the battle at Raclawice, the People's Hall and the Botanical Garden - one of the oldest in Europe. For a unique view of the city, try one of the boat tours that run down the River Odra.
